Travel to Turkey
In order to travel to Turkey or visit Turkey, because I am a Nigerian and know so well that many across the world will bump into this, I will like to state clearly that the average class Nigerians are a perfect case study in defining any visa process.
Therefore, I will want you to agree that apart from a few other visa free countries in Africa and some extremely vulnerable countries. The Visa application process for Nigerians to visit any more developed country is stated below and could apply to some other countries
Different types of visas available for Nigerians.
- Tourist visa.
- Study visa.
- Business visa.
- Conference/meeting visa.
- Medical visa.
– For a tourist visa.
An applicant need to have a hotel reservation or invitation from a Turkish citizen or a resident permit holder in turkey. And must demonstrate to the embassy that he or she has a stable source of income in Nigeria. Either as a business person or as an employee of a reputable organization.
A six months bank statement is required, business registration documents/tax papers etc for a business owner. Or appointment letter, leave approval, pay slips for an employee.
– For a study visa.
A prospective student needs to apply to a recognized institution in turkey offering admission to international students who will issue an offer letter, proof of tuition fee payment, an acceptance letter, sponsorship documents (letter, bank reference letter and 6 months statement of the sponsor)
– For a business visa.
A business visa applicant is a person traveling for the purpose of doing business in turkey.
A company in turkey needs to send an official invitation, stating it will be covering for the expenses related to the invite. The applicant needs to demonstrate capacity as a business person, by providing cac documents/tax papers and a bank statement that shows reasonable business transactions. Personal and corporate bank statements up to 6 months.
– Conference/meeting visa.
This is issued to applicants coming for a conference/exhibition or meetings. It is similar to a business visa. But does not require complexity of company registration. An academic person can use this category to attend a conference or a business person can use it to attend an exhibition.
It also require an invitation from the conference organizers. Which can be obtained after registering for the event. You’ll also be needing a hotel reservation as part of your visa application.
Only study visa application is exempted from providing a hotel reservation.
All application requires 6 months bank transaction statement, a hotel reservation covering period of intended stay. And a flight reservation. Often times the embassy will require an applicant to get a paid and confirmed flight ticket once visa is approved.
– Medical visa.
Is a visa issued on health grounds to those seeking to travel to Turkey for health related matters (for Medicare) it also requires an invitation from a hospital in turkey and a referral (if necessary) from a hospital in Nigeria.
Proof of sufficient fund for the purpose. 6 months bank statement, a hotel reservation or proof of accommodation, proof of financial independence in Nigeria. (employment documents or business documents)
