Following the devastating earthquakes that costed about 40,000 lives across the republics of Turkey and Syria, the ministry of trade in Ankara has issued a statement to help cushion the effect of the disaster as the Turkey suspends export of containers and fabricated buildings.
In her office twitter account, the agency tweeted in Turkish.
Exports of container houses and prefabricated buildings have been banned for 3 months as of February 15, 2023, in order to contribute to the urgent need for temporary shelter that arose due to the earthquakes, the epicenter of which was in Kahramanmaraş on February 6, 2023.
Authorities have also implemented various measures on facilitating customs procedures for aid materials sent from abroad.
Rescue workers from around the world have continued to help Turkish officials in rescue of survivors trapped beneath the rubbles.
The export suspension which would last for 3 months is part of the drastic measures to provide desperately needed aid for hundreds of thousands of displaced people.
